📊 Free Small Business Budget Template
Below is the structure of a working business budget — monthly revenue targets, fixed and variable costs, and a cash-flow projection.
A budget is your plan expressed in numbers. It tells you whether your pricing covers your costs, when you will need to invest, and how much runway you have. This template covers the categories most small businesses need.

How to use
- 1Start with last year's actuals as your baseline.
- 2Split costs into fixed (rent, salaries) and variable (materials, marketing).
- 3Project three scenarios: conservative, expected, optimistic.
- 4Review monthly — a budget that is never updated is useless.
Or automate this
Building a budget from transaction data takes hours. Nika categorises your income and expenses automatically and generates a month-by-month budget from real data — from {price} per month.
Questions
How detailed should a small business budget be?
Detailed enough to make decisions, not so detailed that you spend more time on the budget than the business. Aim for 10–15 line items total: 3–4 revenue sources, 6–8 fixed costs, and 3–4 variable costs.
Should I budget annually or monthly?
Both. An annual budget sets the target; a monthly budget tracks reality. The monthly version is where you spot problems early — a bad month is invisible in an annual view until it is too late.
