Xero is a cloud accounting platform with strong bank reconciliation, multi-currency support, expense tracking, project accounting, and a large marketplace of add-on apps. It handles VAT filing in supported regions, produces professional financial reports, and is the system of record your accountant expects. Xero is a place to store entries — it does not create them from your invoices. Someone still opens each supplier invoice email, reads the PDF, and types vendor, date, line items, and totals into Xero as a bill. Nika does that work: invoices go from inbox to structured data the same day, for $0.40 per invoice. Nika feeds Xero; she does not replace it.
Verdict
Xero and Nika are not competing products. Xero is your accounting system of record; Nika is the AI worker who reads invoices and extracts the data that Xero needs but cannot get on its own. Does Nika push data directly into Xero?
Not yet via API. Today Nika exports a CSV formatted to match Xero’s bill import template (Contact, Invoice Number, Date, Description, Quantity, Unit Amount, Tax Rate). A direct Xero API integration is on the roadmap. The CSV import takes under two minutes per batch.
Can Nika handle multi-currency invoices for Xero?
Yes. Nika extracts the currency from each invoice and includes it in the CSV export. When the Xero API sync ships, multi-currency bills will push directly into Xero with correct exchange-rate handling. Today you map the currency column during CSV import.
Is Nika cheaper than Xero?
They are not the same product, so the comparison is not direct. Xero costs from ~€15/month and gives you accounting features. Nika costs $0.40 per invoice and does the data entry Xero cannot. If you have 50 invoices a month, Nika costs 50 × $0.40. The question is whether that is cheaper than the hours you or a bookkeeper spend typing those 50 invoices into Xero.
